Tijdsbeelden.nl fell under the anno education brand of the National Historical Museum. Due to the elimination of the OCW grant for the National Historical Museum, the museum, and in doing so also its projects, was discontinued in 2012. In the last months of the National Historical Museum there are some projects transfer to other organizations. In tijdsbeelden.nl this has not succeeded because the costs of keeping the website 'running' cannot be borne by organisations that have also been affected by the cuts to culture and heritage.
The creators of this website are thinking about how they can cope with the loss of Tijdsbeelden.nl as a learning tool in the classroom.
